PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) sessions deliver gentle, rhythmic pulses through the body while you relax fully clothed in a private room. Run on our premium Pulse X1 system, it's become a staple in the recovery routines of athletes and busy professionals who use it to unwind and reset. Here's what a session feels like, who it's for, and the one important safety note to know.

Here's a rare wellness pitch: the entire point is to do absolutely nothing. Lie back, get comfortable, and let gentle electromagnetic pulses do the work while you drift. Guests routinely doze off mid-session — and we take that as a compliment.
PEMF has quietly become a staple in the recovery routines of athletes and busy professionals who use it to unwind, reset, and support their overall sense of well-being.
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field. A session delivers gentle, rhythmic electromagnetic pulses through the body by way of a full-body flat bed or targeted applicators.
You can't see the pulses, but you can feel them — a subtle, drum-like tapping sensation that many guests find surprisingly meditative. There's nothing invasive about it: no wires attached to you, nothing to swallow or apply, and no downtime afterward.
You'll lie down, fully clothed, on our Pulse X1 in a private recovery room. Your practitioner sets the intensity — from barely perceptible to a strong, satisfying pulse — and chooses the right applicator for the day: the full-body Flat Bed, the Power Paddles for limbs, or the focused Power Ring for smaller areas like the neck, shoulders, hands, or feet.
Then it's pure downtime.
Most guests describe the sensation as a soft internal drumbeat. At higher intensities, you'll feel muscles subtly contract and release with each pulse. It's a little strange for about thirty seconds… and then, for most people, deeply relaxing. Don't be surprised if you nod off.
It's offered for relaxation and general wellness — a standing reset button, not a medical treatment.
We're particular about our equipment, and PEMF is no exception — our sessions run on the Pulse X1, Pulse's premium system.
Pulse is one of the most established and widely recognized names in the PEMF world. The company has been designing and hand-building PEMF systems since 2007 out of its facility in Cartersville, Georgia, with machines now used in more than 30 countries. In late 2025, Pulse was also named an official supplier to U.S. Figure Skating — the sport's national governing body.
The short version: when you lie back for a session at Blackbird, you're on a well-made, industry-leading system from a brand that's spent nearly two decades focused on this one thing.
PEMF appeals to people who want a genuine reset button — a standing bit of quiet in a loud week. Some guests come weekly as a regular unwind; others book after a heavy training block or a stretch of stressful days. There's no single right cadence, and your practitioner can help you find one that fits.
Because it's done lying down, fully clothed, with zero downtime, it slots easily around the rest of your day.
What does it feel like? A gentle, rhythmic pulsing or tapping — some call it a soft internal drumbeat. Strange for about thirty seconds, then deeply relaxing.
Do I need to undress? No — PEMF is done fully clothed. Just wear something comfortable and skip clothing with large metal components.
Is it safe for everyone? Systems like ours are non-invasive, low-risk general wellness devices, and intensity is always set to your comfort. One important exception: PEMF is not appropriate for anyone with an implanted electronic device — such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, or insulin pump — or for guests who are pregnant. We screen for this before every first session, so please let us know.
If your week could use ten minutes of genuine quiet — or a full fifty — PEMF is waiting. [Book a session →]
