About Deep Thai Mobility

Your therapist uses their hands, forearms, and body weight to guide you through a series of assisted stretches while applying sustained pressure along the body's energy lines. The result is a full-body reset that addresses not just muscle tension but the entire kinetic chain — how your body moves as a connected system.

Deep Thai Mobility at Blackbird takes these foundational techniques and integrates them with modern understanding of myofascial release and mobility training to create a session that's both ancient in wisdom and clinically effective.

More details

Table Thai

Table Thai combines the compression and assisted-stretch techniques of traditional Thai bodywork with the positioning and comfort of table massage.

How it works:
Michael moves you through a sequence of guided stretches while applying sustained pressure along the muscles and connective tissue. Because you're on the table rather than the floor, transitions are easier and you stay warm and supported throughout.

What to expect:
Wear workout clothes — something that makes you feel comfortable and secure while moving around. This work is done through clothing, without oil. You'll be an active participant, but Michael does the moving. Communicate throughout; the stretches should feel like a deep, satisfying release, never pain.

Who it's best for:
Table Thai is a good fit if you want the benefits of Thai bodywork but prefer the comfort of a table, if getting up and down from the floor is difficult, or if you're new to Thai work and want to ease into it. It's also a great option for older clients and anyone working around mobility limitations — you get the full benefit of the technique without the floor transitions."

Mat Thai

Working on a floor mat gives Michael the room to move you through the full range of Thai positions — deeper stretches, more leverage, and angles that simply aren't possible on a table. He uses his own body weight and positioning to open up your focus areas, working with you rather than just on you.

Mat Thai asks more of both of you. It takes more skill to deliver and more participation to receive. That's exactly why the release goes deeper.

About Mat Thai
Mat Thai is traditional-format Thai bodywork performed on a padded floor mat, giving the therapist full freedom of movement and positioning.

How it works:
Your therapist guides you through an extended sequence of assisted stretches, using his own body weight, forearms, feet, and positioning to create leverage. The floor mat allows for movement patterns and depth that a table can't accommodate — think guided yoga where someone else does the work.

What to expect:
Wear workout clothes — something that makes you feel comfortable and secure while moving around. No oil is used. You'll be moved through a range of positions on the mat, and Michael will check in throughout. This is active bodywork — expect to feel worked on in a way that's different from a standard massage.

Who it's best for:
Mat Thai is ideal for athletes, people who train regularly, anyone dealing with mobility restrictions, and clients who've hit a plateau with standard massage and want something that addresses how the whole body moves as a system. It's also a great option for older clients and anyone working around mobility limitations.
