Our Team

Rachael & Michael

Oweners

We are Michael and Rachael, proud owners of Blackbird Massage. We are passionate massage therapists who are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment focused on wellness and recovery.

Since blending our families in 2018, we've found joy not only in raising our four children but also in building a community around healing and connection.Family vacations, camping, and hiking fuel our love for life, and we believe that same joy should be felt in our wellness space. Our journey together began in a family photography business, where we learned the value of collaboration and creativity, and now we bring that passion to our massage practice.

At Blackbird Massage, we cherish our role in the community and are committed to fostering strong connections while promoting well-being for all. We love being a part of your healing journey and look forward to welcoming you into our family.

Michael

Michael was raised in Upstate New York. In high school he was a multi-sport athlete, as a linebacker in Football and throwing Discus in Track & Field. Outside of school he trained and competed in Weightlifting, attending the Empire State games and metaling twice at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

In college Michael studied Music Industry and Performance. This spurred a 20-year career in the Concert Touring Industry where he was able to travel the world while working with some of his favorite bands. Following the pandemic, Michael decided it was the perfect opportunity to pursue his other interests and to bid farewell to the road. During this time, he started 2 successful small businesses, attended a Life and Leadership coaching program and began strength training once again, reigniting his love for weightlifting. It was thru this journey of self-exploration along with his wife’s experience as an LMT that Michael decided to pursue his massage therapy licensure as it offered the perfect merging of his desire to help and serve others while pursuing a career that encourages creativity and constant learning.

Michael is a graduate of The Austin Massage Academy. His mission is to provide a calming, therapeutic environment while delivering focused massage techniques to help athletes optimize their recovery while in training or following an injury.

Adam

Adam Cole is a dedicated massage therapist passionate about creating a safe and comfortable space where clients can truly unwind. He employs a soothing, therapeutic approach tailored to meet specific needs—whether that means applying a gentle touch or offering deep tissue work. A few years ago, Adam transitioned from the fast-paced tech world to pursue a career in wellness, driven by his desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. As he often says, "I wanted a job where people come in happy and leave happier.".

While attending the Austin Massage Academy, Adam formed a lasting friendship with Michael, a connection that has enriched his professional journey even as he gained experience working at several spas. Today, he is proud to be part of the Blackbird family, collaborating closely with Michael and other like-minded professionals.

Outside of his practice, Adam enjoys relaxing at Barton Springs, volunteering at Austin Pets Alive!, and contributing to The Illuminating Collective—a nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans, first responders, and their families through trauma-informed massage.

Bailey

I’ve been practicing massage for five years, after graduating from the Institute for Massage Education in Michigan. Since then, I’ve gained experience working in a cancer center, a sports massage clinic, and running my own mobile massage business.

My sessions are a blend of therapeutic and relaxing work. I enjoy engaging with clients through stretching and active techniques, creating a session that’s both restorative and interactive. I’m trained in cupping, hot stone therapy, and manual lymphatic drainage, and I also hold a NASM personal training certification.

Outside of work, I love staying active whether that’s at the gym, practicing handstands, or spending time outdoors in nature.
