We are Michael and Rachael, proud owners of Blackbird Massage. We are passionate massage therapists who are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment focused on wellness and recovery.
Since blending our families in 2018, we've found joy not only in raising our four children but also in building a community around healing and connection. Family vacations, camping, and hiking fuel our love for life, and we believe that same joy should be felt in our wellness space. Our journey together began in a family photography business, where we learned the value of collaboration and creativity, and now we bring that passion to our massage practice.
At Blackbird Massage, we cherish our role in the community and are committed to fostering strong connections while promoting well-being for all. We love being a part of your healing journey and look forward to welcoming you into our family.

If you’re dealing with jaw tension, chronic tightness, old injuries that still flare up, or pain that keeps coming back no matter what you’ve tried… MJ’s sessions are built to create real, lasting change.
With over 16 years of experience, MJ specializes in deep, intentional bodywork including TMJ relief, injury recovery, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, pain management, and deep tissue massage. Every session is personalized to what your body needs — not a one-size-fits-all routine.
His focus is simple: help you move better, feel better, and get back to living comfortably.
Clients book with MJ when they’re ready for more than just temporary relief. They book when they’re ready to finally address the root of the problem.
If your body has been asking for help, this is your sign.

Specialities: Deep Tissue, Sports and using Swedish to help relax their nervous system
Katie is from West Texas, graduating from Tech and becoming a teacher. She realized she wanted to switch career paths when her daughter was born and benefitted from body work. While in school at Lauterstein Conway, she realized how much massage can bless people of all ages and help them live a more enjoyable and well life.
She has found passion in providing massages that are therapeutic and beneficial for the client. Whether that is through relaxing massage that is calming to the nervous system, or more goal oriented deep tissue work, she loves helping clients meet their goals. Her work is deeply dependent on the client’s needs. Outside of work, she loves being a mom.
Her interests lie in all things health and wellness, reading, and getting outside! Believing that we are more than just ourselves, but also part of a much larger community is at the core of both her personal and professional life.

Cristel is a licensed massage therapist with over 15 years of experience helping clients find real, lasting relief. After she graduated massage therapy school in 2011, she went on to spend a decade educating the next generation of massage therapists before channeling that expertise directly into her client work.
Her sessions are intuitive and deeply personalized, tailored to what each body actually needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you're dealing with chronic neck tension, stubborn hip and glute pain, or simply need to decompress, Cristel's goal is simple: that you leave feeling genuinely worked on, relieved, and restored - not just relaxed.
She is currently furthering her education in physical therapy, bringing an ever-deepening understanding of the body to every session.
Outside the treatment room, Cristel enjoys cooking, reading science fiction/fantasy, playing video games, and the occasional Dungeons & Dragons campaign. She shares her home with her husband of 21 years and their three fur babies.

Andrea was born and raised in San Diego, California, and moved to Austin with my husband in March of 2023.
Before joining Blackbird Massage, I worked at the front desk at Woodhouse Day Spa for two years-that's where I met Rachael and Mike! While working there, I attended Avenue 5 Institute with over 750 hrs. to complete esthetician school. Being a licensed esthetician, I am passionate about helping people feel great in their skin, and I love being part of the wellness world. I really wanted to go into a field where I would help people and being an esthetician is exactly that! Getting to know people and creating a personal bond and helping not only their skin, but also like self confidence!
Outside of work, I recently became a mom-my son was born in August 2024! For fun, I love to travel and have been to 37 countries so far. I'm always up for trying new foods, and one of my favorite ways to relax is going on long drives with my family. I truly enjoy connecting with others and bringing a little more comfort and care into people's lives.

As Office Manager at Blackbird Massage, I’m dedicated to creating a seamless, welcoming experience for every guest. With a background in hospitality management and event planning, I bring a strong focus on thoughtful details and elevated service.
My experience includes roles at Woodhouse Spa and The Owen House, where I developed a deep appreciation for creating environments that feel both refined and restorative.
After dedicating over 20 years to raising my four children, I returned to my passion for hospitality with renewed purpose. Outside the spa, I enjoy traveling and attending sporting events with my husband, Bill, of nearly 25 years.
